Continuing my exploration of drawing as a moment of awareness and self-observation, my current work develops further an inquiry into the sense of self as experienced through the body. Some pieces address fear of the body's vulnerability, while others question the role of the body in shaping the workings of the mind and our perception of reality.
I am interested in the gap between what we can know objectively about our anatomy and physiology, and what it actually feels like to inhabit a physical form. This includes our attachment to the body and anxieties about it. The body becomes both object and subject as I try to document how my mind simultaneously cleaves to and withdraws from my body.
